A Note on Oven Maintenance

Oven Cleaning Method #1: Lemon Cleaning Solution

Lemon is the perfect oven degreasing agent. You just need to replace expensive cleaning products with a lemon cleaning solution. It will effectively cut through the grease and offer outstanding results. The following steps will help you prepare a lemon cleaning solution.

  • Cut a lemon into two pieces and juice them.
  • Add some water to the lemon juice and pour it onto the oven to let it work its magic.
  • Wait for a few to ensure that the lemon solution breaks through the grease and grime.
  • Start wiping the solution using a damp cloth to remove the build-up.
  • Lastly, use the same solution to clean the oven glass door with a damp cloth.

When you use lemon, you get to bring back the shine of your oven. It will also provide a fresh, clean smell that will elevate your mood.

Oven Cleaning Method #2: Lemon Oven Steam

If the grease has taken hold of your oven, consider a lemon oven steam. It should help loosen the dirt and cut through the grime.

With lemon and water steam cleaning, you can achieve the results that you are looking for. You need to put in extra effort to get rid of stuck-on food particles. Here is how you can take on the most stubborn gunk.

  • Squeeze the lemon juice into a bowl and some water to it. Choose an oven-friendly bowl as you would have to boil it in the oven. If you do not have lemon, you can substitute it with vinegar. It should do the same trick.
  • As the lemon water boils in the oven, it would have a steaming effect, which should also work with microwaves.
  • The steam will degrease the oven and loosen up the hard-to-remove food particles.
  • After the water boils for about a minute, you need to switch off the oven and take out the bowl from the oven.
  • Finally, wipe the walls of the oven with a damp cloth and all the stubborn areas.

Oven Cleaning Method #3: Lemon and Baking Soda Cleaning

If your oven does not get cleaned the first time around, it is advised that you add baking soda to the recipe. The thing about baking soda paste is that it helps effectively break down dirt and grime. It is recommended for tougher areas.

Baking soda does an incredible job at adding an extra kick. It will ensure that your oven smells fresh and is spotless by the time you are done cleaning it. Here is how you can create the perfect lemon and baking soda solution.

  • Two cups of baking soda.
  • A cup of warm water.
  • Two cups of lemon juice.
  • Bowl

For better consistency, you can add some more baking soda or water as needed. Once the solution is ready, you can spread it over the grease spots and stubborn areas which you could not clean even after steam cleaning. You will need to leave the solution for about 25 minutes to ensure that it does its job.

Next, you need to use a soft bristle brush and scrub the desired areas. As the combination of lemon juice and baking soda will lift the food particles along with the grime, you would not need to put in a lot of effort while brushing the stubborn areas.

After you have brushed the tough spots, you just need to rinse the inside of the oven with some warm water. Then, you must let the area dry to get rid of water spots.

Oven cleaner John notes to make sure to thoroughly clean the oven racks as they tend to accumulate stubborn grime. You will need to remove the oven racks to clean them properly. It is a good idea to leave them in a bucket of cleaning solutions.

Remember to clean the oven glass inside and outside using the same method.

Oven Cleaning Method #4: Lemon Rub

Now, if you do not have the time to thoroughly clean the oven or are looking for a quick fix, you should consider a lemon rub. It simply requires you to cut a lemon and get straight to work.

Here is what you will need to do:

  • Cut three lemons into halves.
  • Place a bowl of water in the oven and let it steam the oven to loosen the strength of the stubborn stains.
  • Then, use the lemon halves to rub against the oven surfaces. As the tough stains come into contact with the citric acid, you would be able to remove them.
  • Continue rubbing the lemons to break down the dirt.
  • Lastly, use a damp cloth to clean the oven.

Create a Lemon DIY Cleaner

In addition to using lemon for oven cleaning, you can use it to clean just about everything. It makes for the ultimate DIY cleaner.

All you need to create a DIY cleaner is a cup of lemon juice, a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap, and a tablespoon of corn starch.

Stir the solution thoroughly and heat the mixture once done.

Ovens & Lemons

When life gives you lemons, you need to use them to clean your oven. Lemon is just as powerful as any other at-home product, such as baking soda or vinegar. You won’t find it in professional cleaner job descriptions, but it is extremely affordable and releases the perfect smell that will leave you energised.

Get creative with how you use lemons to clean your home, and you will be surprised with what they can do.
