After Builders Cleaning Acton

Cleaner wiping accessible interior glass after decorating

The work is finished, but dust has settled across the room. Tell us what was renovated in your Acton home and which spaces need cleaning. We will agree the work and price before the visit.

A finished room can still need a careful clean.

After builders cleaning deals with the ordinary dust and dirt left after refurbishment. A new bathroom may have dusty fittings, a kitchen may need cupboard shelves wiped, and decorating can leave residue on ledges and floors. This is different from a weekly visit to an occupied home. There can be more surfaces to check and more dust to remove before normal housekeeping begins.

Describe the work rather than simply asking for a deep clean. Replacing kitchen units, plastering one room and decorating an entire flat leave different cleaning jobs. If you need help with accumulated household dirt instead, read about a one-off home clean and explain which tasks matter most.

Look beyond the middle of the room.

Fine dust often settles on window ledges, skirting boards, door frames and the tops of accessible surfaces. It may also reach adjoining rooms used as a route through the work. Include those spaces in the enquiry. A newly painted room can appear tidy from the doorway while the edges and fittings still need attention.

Tell us where plastering or sanding took place and whether dusty work has stopped. Loose, ordinary plaster dust can be discussed as part of the clean. Suspected asbestos, lead paint dust and other hazardous materials need qualified specialist advice; this visit is not hazardous waste removal. Do not disturb unknown material to find out what it is.

List the kitchen surfaces you want included.

Mention worktops, accessible cupboard interiors, shelves, fronts and the floor. Say whether cupboards are empty or already filled with food and crockery. Cleaning an empty shelf and working around stored belongings are different tasks. Identify new finishes and keep the installer’s care instructions available, especially where a surface is still curing or needs a particular product.

Building dust on an appliance is different from grease inside it. Describe the dirt and the surfaces affected instead of assuming every appliance treatment belongs to this visit. Mention any packaging and loose building materials, and ask the contractor to clear the working areas.

Check the new bathroom before booking.

Tell us about dust on the basin, bath, shower fittings, tiles and reachable ledges. Point out fresh sealant, grout or coatings and ask the installer when they can be cleaned. Do not book cleaning before those materials are ready. The job should respect the finish rather than rush a newly completed installation.

Paint specks, grout residue and damage are separate issues. A scratched fitting cannot be repaired by wiping it. Show any stubborn marks in photographs and explain what caused them if known. Their treatment depends on the material and condition; complete removal cannot be promised from a description alone.

Cleaner mopping a completed hard floor

Protect the finish as well as removing dust.

Give the floor type in each room: timber, laminate, vinyl, tile or another material. Mention new coatings and any instructions about moisture or products. Loose dust and ordinary dirt are different from hardened cement or damage to stone. Specialist restoration and structural repairs are outside this cleaning service.

For carpeted rooms, say whether the problem is surface dust or a spill that has reached the fibres. Read the carpet cleaning information if a separate treatment is needed. Ask about combining appointments before choosing a date; do not assume carpet cleaning is included in the after builders quote.

Arrange the visit after the last dusty task.

Ask the builders to finish cutting, sanding and plastering, remove rubble and clear their tools. The rooms need safe access and enough space to work. If more trades are returning, explain their schedule. Cleaning just before another dusty task can mean the same surfaces need attention again.

For an Acton flat, describe entry arrangements, stairs or a lift, and the route to the rooms. Mention parking restrictions when enquiring. If the handover is tied to a tenancy, compare cleaning for a property handover so the requested work matches the purpose of the visit.

The room count alone does not explain the job.

Starting rates depend on availability and are published for areas within the M25. Applicable congestion charges are extra. Ask for the full quotation for the agreed work.

The extent of the work, dust levels, surfaces, access and tasks affect the quote and time needed. A single plastered room can require more work than several rooms that were only lightly decorated. Explain what remains and ask for the expected cleaner hours and total before confirming a booking.

Tools and cleaning products are supplied for this service. Discuss interior glass and accessible window frames if they need attention after decorating. For a wider request, see the window cleaning options. Confirm which sides are included; a room clean does not automatically mean every exterior window will be cleaned.

Booking for Acton and nearby homes.

Give your postcode when asking about dates. Availability needs to be confirmed for the address and the amount of work; give the full address when checking dates. Tell us who can let the cleaners in and when the building work is expected to finish.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Questions before the builders leave

Can I book while the decorators are still working?

Explain the planned finish date first. Arrange cleaning after their dust-producing work is complete and the rooms are safe to enter.

What should I do about rubble in the room?

Ask the contractor to remove building waste and clear tools before the visit. This is a cleaning appointment, not construction waste disposal.

Will you clean the inside of new cupboards?

Include accessible shelves and cupboard interiors in the task list. Say whether they are empty, and agree their inclusion when requesting the quote.

Are cleaning supplies my responsibility?

Tools and products are supplied for after builders cleaning. Tell us about sensitive finishes and share the installer’s care guidance before the appointment.

Can paint splashes be removed from every surface?

Not every paint mark can be removed. Show the marks and identify the material. Some residue needs specialist treatment, and cleaning cannot undo surface damage.

How long should I allow before moving furniture back?

Ask for an estimate based on the rooms, residue and tasks. Also follow any floor or coating drying instructions given by the installer.

Tell us what the builders have finished.
