Upholstery Cleaning Wimbledon

The back of a freestanding sofa may be as visible as its seats. Explain which panels need attention, including the sides and loose cushions. We can discuss the material, reachable surfaces and a quotation that describes the requested work.

  • Exposed panels included in the request
  • Separate cushion faces identified
  • Furniture layout considered for the quote

AN OVERALL VIEW

Show the back as well as the front.

A photograph facing the seats does not show a freestanding sofa’s rear panel. Include both views if you want those surfaces considered. Mention contact marks on the top of the back, sides used as a leaning point and any area normally covered by a throw. A clear description prevents a broad request to clean the sofa from hiding different expectations about its panels.

LAYOUT OF THE SEATING

An attached section changes the request.

Describe a corner unit, chaise or separate footstool with the full arrangement. Note whether sections are fixed together and if something has a different cover. The number of people who can sit on the sofa is useful, but it does not establish every surface, size or inclusion. Give dimensions when requested and show the layout rather than estimating a category.

Tell us about an armchair too if it is part of the enquiry. Its arms or headrest may be more affected than the sofa, even when both belong to a matching suite. Each piece needs its condition and care details considered.

SEATS AND BACKS

List cushion faces without assuming inclusions.

Count seat and back cushions separately, noting which are loose and which are fixed. For reversible pieces, show both sides if both need attention. A different underside fabric or a contrasting edge should be mentioned. Scatter cushions and a footstool are individual items to include in the enquiry, not automatic additions to a sofa price.

Leave covers fitted while describing the furniture. A zip does not establish that machine washing is suitable, and removing filling is not a preparation step to assume. Ask what the proposed treatment covers, including any concern about material below the surface.

CARE BEFORE THE METHOD

Check each material used on the piece.

Share care instructions from the label or manufacturer, especially restrictions on moisture and products. A rear panel may not match the seats, and decorative trim can introduce another material. If the cover has been replaced or treated before, explain that history. Photographs help show appearance, but they cannot reliably settle fibre composition on their own.

SUITABILITY AND SCOPE

Discuss extraction or dry cleaning for the panels.

Hot water extraction and dry cleaning for suitable delicate upholstery are methods we offer. The choice depends on the actual cover, its condition and any care restrictions. Do not assume the most visible panel decides the treatment for every part of the piece. Ask which surfaces can be treated and what limitations have been identified.

Cleaning is separate from seam repairs, recolouring or restoring worn padding. Mention loose piping, damage and faded areas before the quote is agreed. For optional protection, check suitability, inclusion and any charge rather than expecting it to prevent every future mark.

WHAT REACHED THE COVER

Separate gradual contact from isolated spills.

Everyday handling on the back edge can differ from a food stain on a seat. Describe each concern, including the spill’s cause, approximate age and previous products. Send a wider view with the close-up so its position is clear. Avoid another round of spraying or scrubbing while waiting for advice; it can leave residues or alter the fabric.

Pet incidents need information about recurrence and extent. Tell us if liquid may have passed into the filling or a smell remains without a visible mark. Treatment cannot guarantee total stain or odour removal, and permanent damage or a problem deeper inside may remain.

AFTER THE VISIT

Allow for cushions and room conditions.

Ask how the loose cushions should be arranged and when the sofa can be used after the chosen method. Treatment duration is not a drying guarantee. Fabric, moisture retained and conditions in the room affect drying, so keep other seating available and follow the cleaner’s ventilation advice.

Check before replacing throws, back cushions or belongings. If there is a date when the whole sofa must be ready, discuss that when enquiring rather than assuming the end of the appointment means an immediate return to normal use.

CLEAR QUOTATION

Include the requested panels and extra pieces.

The starting prices for extraction are £15 for an armchair, £36 for a two-seat sofa and £102 for a three-seat sofa. Dry cleaning figures start at £19, £42 and £114 respectively. Use the published furniture prices as a guide while describing your actual configuration and surfaces.

Confirm the total and appointment options; size, material, condition and area can affect the quotation. Applicable congestion charges are extra. Clear personal belongings and explain entrances, stairs and equipment access. Help with lightweight furniture is available, but moving a heavy sofa or dismantling connected sections needs discussing beforehand.

WIMBLEDON APPOINTMENTS

Send the location with the panel list.

Include the Wimbledon postcode, preferred dates and entry arrangements. Give the address where the furniture will actually be on the day, with a receiving contact if needed. We will discuss the quotation and available appointments for those pieces and that location.

BEFORE THE FURNITURE IS TREATED

Questions about visible backs and separate sections

Is a sofa’s rear panel automatically included?

State that you want it considered and show its position and fabric. Agree the surfaces in the quotation rather than assuming the word sofa defines every reachable panel.

Do I describe the chaise separately?

Include it in the overall layout and say if it is attached or a separate piece. Its size and cover matter to the request beyond the sofa’s seating capacity.

Should I separate connected sofa sections before cleaning?

Explain their construction first. Taking them apart is not an assumed preparation task, and moving or dismantling arrangements should be discussed before the day.

What if the back uses another fabric?

Provide care information for that material where available. Different panels can affect suitability and the scope even though they belong to a single piece.

Can I add a footstool to the enquiry?

Name it as another item and give its size, material and concerns. Ask for it in the complete quotation rather than assuming it belongs to a sofa starting price.

Do reversible cushions need both faces described?

Yes, say which faces you want treated and show any different underside material. Reversibility alone does not settle the included treatment or prove both fabrics have identical care needs.

A clear picture of the whole sofa.

Show the front, back and separate pieces with their care instructions. Add your Wimbledon address details and we can discuss the surfaces, treatment and complete price.
