One-off deep cleaning in London

A one-off deep clean is useful when the normal weekly jobs are not enough. You might be catching up after a busy period, preparing for visitors or cleaning a home before settling into it. Star Domestic Cleaners arranges deep cleaning across London and the M25. The first step is to explain the condition of the property and the work you want done. We will discuss the rooms, tasks, time and quote before the visit. A deep clean is not a single fixed checklist for every home. A small flat with a greasy kitchen needs a different plan from a larger house with several bathrooms.

Explain what needs extra attention

Start with the areas that are causing the most trouble. That might be grease around the hob, marks on cupboard fronts, a shower with limescale or dust on accessible skirting boards. Describe how long the build-up has been there and whether anyone has tried to remove it. Photographs can help explain the job if the booking team asks for them. There is no benefit in understating the condition to get a shorter appointment. The cleaner needs enough time to do the agreed work. Tell us if there are areas you do not need cleaned so attention can stay on the rooms that matter.

Kitchen cleaning beyond the daily wipe

Kitchens collect different kinds of dirt. Grease near cooking areas needs a different approach from crumbs in drawers or water marks around a sink. Ask about the hob surface, cupboard fronts, splashback, worktops and floor. If you want the inside of cupboards cleaned, say whether they will be empty. The inside of a fridge, freezer or oven should be discussed separately, including preparation and any extra charge. Do not assume an appliance will be moved or dismantled during a general clean. Tell us about delicate worktops, damaged seals or finishes with specific care requirements before the cleaner arrives.

Bathrooms and limescale

For bathrooms, mention the fittings and the areas of build-up. A shower screen, tiled wall, toilet and taps may each need different products and care. Heavy limescale can take more time than routine bathroom cleaning. Some staining, damaged grout and worn finishes may not be removable by cleaning. If there is loose sealant, a leak or a cracked fitting, explain the problem rather than treating it as dirt. Cleaning does not repair plumbing or damaged surfaces. Tell us about stone tiles and other materials that need particular care. This gives the cleaner a clearer starting point and helps avoid unsuitable product choices.

Dust, floors and accessible surfaces

A deep clean can include a more detailed pass over accessible surfaces, corners and floors than a short routine appointment allows. Explain which rooms are included and whether you want reachable shelves, skirting boards and furniture surfaces addressed. Cleaning around a fully furnished room is different from cleaning an empty one. Heavy furniture, high fittings and awkward access should be discussed in advance. Do not promise yourself that a quick mop will remove every mark from a worn floor. Scratches, discolouration and damage may remain. Give us the flooring type so suitable methods and any limitations can be considered.

Jobs that need another service

Carpet extraction, sofa treatment and oven cleaning are not simply longer versions of dusting and wiping. They may need specialist equipment, a different appointment or an additional quote. Building dust after renovation is another case where the correct service matters. If there has been construction work, enquire about after builders cleaning rather than describing the job as a normal deep clean. If you are leaving a tenancy, tell us that too. The handover requirements and timing may be different. Clear service selection helps you compare a quote against the actual work, instead of relying on the broad phrase “deep cleaning”.

Prepare the rooms for the visit

Allow access to the surfaces you want cleaned. Empty cupboards if internal cleaning is included, remove food from an appliance where agreed, and put paperwork and valuables away. If there is a lot of clutter, explain whether tidying is part of the booking or whether you will deal with it first. Give the team enough information about parking, lifts and entry to plan the visit. Keep pets away from the working area if needed. Confirm water, electricity and equipment requirements before the appointment. A cleaner cannot make good use of the booked time if the agreed rooms are locked or the surfaces are covered.

Quote, time and practical limits

The published starting rate for one-off cleaning is £18 per hour per cleaner. Ask for a quote based on the property and the agreed tasks, including any minimum charge. Location, condition and availability can affect the price, and congestion charges may apply. Check whether the proposed time covers your full list or only the main priorities. If several cleaners attend, clarify how the hours are calculated. Heavy build-up or extra rooms may mean more work than an initial description suggested. Discuss that before approving changes. You should know which jobs have been agreed and what an additional task would cost.

After the clean

If you are home at the end, look over the agreed areas and ask about anything that needs explanation. Some surfaces may need to dry before their appearance can be assessed properly. The cleaner can explain any limits found during the visit, such as damage or a mark that is not ordinary dirt. Keep the booking details so you can refer to the original scope if you contact the team afterwards. A one-off clean may also help you decide which jobs to keep on top of through regular visits. Questions about deep cleaning

Is every appliance included?

No appliance should be assumed to be included without checking the quote. Name the oven, fridge or other appliance, describe its condition and ask what preparation is needed. Internal appliance cleaning may have separate requirements or charges.

Can a deep clean remove mould?

Explain any mould or damp before booking. Cleaning visible marks does not fix the cause of damp. Some conditions need a specialist assessment or repairs, and the team needs to confirm whether the requested work is suitable.

Can I book at short notice?

Ask about the available appointments for your postcode. We will confirm a slot before the booking is agreed. This page does not promise same-day attendance or a particular day without checking availability.
